Rigorosamente e diligentemente allineato alla tabella di marcia definita dalla sua routine, il protagonista avanza passo dopo passo quasi incoscientemente lungo la strada delineata che gli si pone innanzi. Se da un lato l'ambiente sempre uguale trasmette inizialmente un senso di sicurezza e di familiarità (che il concetto di "tornare a casa" riassume benissimo), dall'altro, alla lunga, diventa claustrofobico e asfissiante. Trascinato passivamente in un percorso circolare, il protagonista prova con tutte le sue forze ad evitare lo scontro diretto, avanzando a testa bassa sul sentiero già tracciato. Solo una volta arrivato allo stremo è costretto a fermarsi ed a confrontarsi con la realtà: per spezzare le catene che lo legano deve abbandonare il terreno familiare e conosciuto, che ormai è diventato prigione, ed abbracciare l'ignoto. E' una scelta difficile e sofferta, un salto nel vuoto. Buttarsi equivale a compiere un atto eroico, salvo poi rivelarsi null'altro che un piccolo passo che lo porterà in una situazione simile - ma non identica - a quella da cui era partito.

Rigorously and diligently aligned with the schedule defined by his routine, step after step the protagonist moves on almost unconsciously along the traced path placed before him. If on the one hand the unchanging environment at first gives him an initial sense of security and familiarity (which the concept of “back home” can very well summarize) on the other hand in the long term it becomes claustrophobic and suffocating. Having been dragged passively in a circular path, with all his strength the protagonist tries to avoid a direct confrontation, moving on head down along the traced path. Only when on his last legs he is forced to stop and face reality: in order to break the chains that bind him he has to abandon the familiar and known area, now a prison, ad face the unknown. It's a difficult and painful choice, a leap into the void. To throw himself is equivalent to performing an eroic act, except then revealing being nothing else but a small step which brings him back to a similar - but not identical - situation, that from which he had started.
