True examples of women who are building a new world, the producers of the multi-award-winning film, Pioneers in Skirts, are returning to the 2021 ILC event to screen their film on demand during the conference and (on Tuesday, April 27, 2021) share an update presentation about what they’ve been able to accomplish during the pandemic, and what forced them to launch the Global Impact Movie Relay initiative. Meet the Filmmakers on April 27th at the 2021 IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference: Ashley Maria & Lea-Ann W. Berst.
This dynamic daughter-mother duo took on Hollywood to begin a journey to decode the chipping away of women's ambition. As an award-winning film director, Ashley felt the pushback for director jobs while her male counterparts were getting hired.
Lea-Ann fought the same limiting gender bias as a woman with decades in the tech industry. She had to ask the question with Ashley, "why are we still dealing with this?"
The resulting social impact documentary film, Pioneers in Skirts, opens wide the doors of conversation with frank commentary and a story that might just be your own.
