Honeydew is a rural area in Northern California that sits at the base of the great King Range in the valley of the Mattole River. The roads are steep and dangerous, with no cell phone service to call for help. Most homesteads are off the grid and drink their water from a spring or a well. To some it is heaven, to others, it would seem like a prison in the wilderness.

The area is quite famous for growing the best marijuana in the entire world. But, with the new legalization in California, and it’s oppressive regulations and costs, many small farmers are giving up. Local economies are collapsing and the community wonders if they can survive the new challenges.
There are a few that will never leave. There are reasons for staying that go beyond the marijuana industry… There’s a deeper connection here for those who are willing to find it.

Maureen is the main character in this rugged area of the Pacific northwest that came here because of her love for country living. She Left home when she was 16 years old and traveled the United States in her van all alone. By sheer luck, or destiny itself, she landed in Humboldt County where she bought her first piece of California land for $50 down.
