The small turkey sized Great Tinamou is an inhabitant of humid tropical forests from southern Mexico to the northern half of South America. It is often hunted for food and is scare outside protected areas. These birds are hard to see (and film) and live on the dark forest floor, while they can fly, they are reluctant to do so. Here we see one being interested in picking off prey that has been disturbed by a column of army ants. Tinamous are related to the now extinct Moas of New Zealand.
