A scene from Generation Zero
Filmmakers - Christopher Schlierf and Benjamin Kratzin
“Shooting the girl in the bath of milk was a really difficult decision, because we were trying to maintain the color variance but we still wanted to reduce the color palette so it had its own ‘Blade Runner-esk' feel. When you look at the source footage for this shot, there is still so much color variance and it’s incredibly sharp. In fact, we were really surprised that the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K could make such a crisp clear image given we were shooting on anamorphic lenses.”
“When you’re doing a camera test like this you want to make sure the quality is outstanding and that the color, sharpness and dynamic range are all there. Anamorphic lenses with their imperfections are great for aesthetics, but possibly not perfect enough for a camera test like this.“
“But as soon as we saw this particular shot at our DIT station on a 4K monitor, we were really impressed by the sharpness of this camera. The amount of detail that it was holding was great, given how soft these lenses are!”
