The African /African Community in Memphis, Tennessee called “Orange Mound” roots go back to 1879 when two Black Churches was formed “Mount Pisgah C.M.E. Church on Park Avenue and Mount Moriah Baptist Church on Carnes Avenue in Memphis. Orange Mound is the 1st Community in America built for Blacks by Blacks.
Anthony “Amp” Elmore better know in Memphis as the 5 time World Kickboxing Champion is also Tennessee’s 1st Independent 35mm Theatrical Filmmaker. In this video Elmore chronicle the story that in November of 2016 first Lady Michelle Obama named “Orange Mound” a “Preserve America Community.”

Anthony “Amp” Elmore created a Black Filmmaking culture in Orange Mound called “Black Memphis Hollywood” where Anthony Elmore film “The Contemporary Gladiator” that Elmore began filming November of 1987 makes “Orange Mound” not only the first Community in America built for Blacks by Blacks, “Orange Mound is the Birthplace of Modern Memphis Filmmaking.”

At the time of this posting Elmore has finished his Orange Mound Home to an “Orange Mound Hollywood Film set. The newly renovated “Orange colored home” represent “Orange Mound” and the propagation and teaching of “Orange Mound” Culture and History.
