DAY 1244. When you feel confused or alone or scared or any of those things that a lot of us are feeling right now, allow yourself to feel it. Bring in the part of you who is witnessing the you feeling the feelings. And from that witnessing part of you, let the emotion be.

Through your observing of the emotions that arise within you, you’re in effect telling them they have a right to exist, that you value them, and that you’re listening. Through your presence to your own emotional processing, you create a space for the feelings to move along.

Stay curious. Ah, what is this emotion? Ah, what is this fear? Ah, so what is it I’m feeling now? This is how we can maintain our role as master of our domain-- our thoughts and feelings are ours alone and they are powerful gates through which we can expand.

What this practice offers us is the opportunity to begin to learn the body’s language, and part of that language is emotion. When you have a strong emotion coming up, you can pay attention to it as it flares.

Practice watching it from that neutral, interested, witness-place, and you’ll also get to watch it move around. It may diminish. Perhaps it may flare up again depending on what thoughts you’re thinking. If you keep watching it, giving it attention without pushing it away in condemnation, it will eventually reach a quiet place.

From there you are given a gift. You can take that emotion and move it through your Qi field with Qigong. Say it’s fear. Rooting Boar can help you move that. If it’s anxiety, you could call on Black Eagle Wings. Maybe it’s confusion: yesterday’s clip of Eagle Wings could bring you clarity.

Sometimes you’ll do well in witnessing and sometimes you’ll drop the ball. It’s all ok.

Keep practicing.
