Bliss is an account of a lazy day in my life, spanning from sunrise to night. In order to add beauty to an otherwise boring day, I focus on objects that give me peace and pleasure. Somewhat inspired by Meshes of the Afternoon’s emphasis on inanimate objects, I shoot things on various surfaces and in different rooms of my house, occasionally adding my hand to reach for or grab these things. In particular, I focus on blue and white fabrics, skies, nature and circular objects. These shots are all taken with either a steady hand or a tripod, whereas the shots in reality are shakier. The point I intend to make with the shaky shots was not that reality is awful, but that it isn’t as exciting or romantic as fantasy. Whenever I am pulled out of my dream world, my hand comes onto the screen and clicks, sending me back to my fantasy life. This idea comes from a shot that I use in one of my experimental montages. I am off-screen for the entire film, aside from the occasional hand or foot. I decided to shoot my film from a first-person perspective to echo some of the shots I liked in Meshes of the Afternoon, as well as the cinematography in the comedy series, Peep Show, which I believe is the ultimate example of reality being mundane but sometimes nice. I end the film with a cup of tea, enjoying one of my more blissful moments in reality.

During a lazy day at home, I seek out objects that give me a dreamlike sense of bliss, but my peace is occasionally interrupted by the mundanity of the real world.
