At first, Amie wanted to make it look like a replica of MarieVic’s Tourism (2013) film, however halfway through she decided to take some creative license and made it her own way by showing what the scenery is like in the South Bay (Palos Verdes (PV), Torrance, Gardena) and how the performer wears what seems appropriate with the environment she’s skating through. For example, the performer wears a red hat and fluffy shall when she goes to the richer venues such as PV and a hat and long sleeved shirt when she’s in more middle class areas. The performer skates through different streets, neighborhoods, and coastal views. Amie kept the audio unedited to make the viewer feel like they are with the skater, to hear the wind breeze through the mic, to hear the roller skates glide through the gravel, and the cars moving through traffic. Amie wanted to show elements of MarieVic’s footage but also edit it in a way to make it look like my own. She used MarieVic’s editing and quick cuts between shots style because it was very dynamic and it kept her hooked on the video, wondering where MarieVic would skate through next. Amie wanted to give the same feel with her video by making the viewer wonder where the performer would skate next and what the landscapes behind her would be shown next.
