On May 7th, 2013, I staged a re-enactment based on the famous photograph of the amateur photographer W.F. Leijns. He photographed the limbo that happened immediately after German troops fired on a celebrating crowd of Amsterdam citizens who assumed that allied troops would liberate the city. Photographer and filmmaker Frank Oorthuys made this short movie from exactly the same window where Leijns stood when he made his photograph 68 years earlier.
