In his dialogues Plato (427 b.C. \u2013 347 b.C.) presents his philosophical theories in the form of conversations, started off from real or fictitious pretexts and leading the participants to examine deep philosophical and political matters. The key figure in most of them is Socrates, who in his humorous and intelligent manner brings out of his companions their ignorance or illusions about matters which to the philosopher's mind are at the center of human life.
