WORD WARRIORS III sounds the alarm, calling an end to the cyclical epidemic of self- destruction that has attacked our black boys and young black men. A powerful social commentary that explores the circumstances of young African American men in today’s society, and explores the concept of using one’s words as a weapon of peace vs. guns and violence. We examine the power of the mighty power of the WORD from the perspectives of a group of young Black men who are poets, as well as community activists, educators, and noted elder poets – aka THE WORD WARRIOR GRIOTS – who speak wisdom from a historical point of view and who have been instrumental figures in the Civil Rights Movement and in shaking the halls of injustice with their weapons of words.
