In this webinar, arranged for Heritage Open Days 2021, Wakefield Civic Society President Kevin Trickett MBE talks about the history of one of the city's principal streets and explains how the Heritage Action Zone project centred on the Upper Westgate Conservation Area is set to bring new life and investment into the area.
One slight correction to what Kevin said during the presentation: the Picture House opened in 1913. The name was changed to the Playhouse in 1915 and the interior was refurbished in a more modern style in 1921.
