Sandy Kashmark, Executive Director of Tri-State Manufacturers Association (TSMA) gives an overview of the organization and its member benefits.

Sandy: "Tri-State Manufacturers Association is a nonprofit membership organization focused on the success of manufacturers. Most of our members are located in west central Minnesota and southern North Dakota.

Who are our members? Manufacturers, of course. The one-man shop offering prototype design, contract manufacturers equipped for CNC machining, injection molding, casting, and more. West central Minnesota is a major source for packaging machine manufacturing and so those companies are Tri-State members as well. Tri-State holds meetings and social events that provide a chance for members to get to know one another. As relationships develop, business owners and managers now have someone they can call to talk about common issues.

Tri-State also provides member education, benefit programs, manufacturing tours, industry news, a legislative voice, and a means of collaborating with others in the region who understand the importance of manufacturing as an economic sector.

For the past few years, collaborative efforts have largely focused on workforce development. Efforts are underway to change perceptions and encourage you to explore careers in manufacturing. Typically a two-year degree in a manufacturing discipline, like mechatronics or welding, will lead to a high-paying, stable job right here in west central Minnesota.

West central Minnesota is a wonderful place to live and manufacturing careers are one of the reasons why."
