From school policy to social justice movements, students are interested in and motivated to participate in changing their worlds. As educators, we can discuss the importance of using one’s voice to advocate for change, teach students how to engage in advocacy, but action is the true learning experience. By providing students with training and then facilitating opportunities where they can engage in advocacy efforts, they can have life changing, transformative learning experiences. Whether secondary or college students, this session will provide advocacy 101 training used with students, share experiences on organizing students in advocacy experiences, and facilitate participant interaction.
