A fashion project and movement, that aims to protest against women's life long burden of having to 'protect' themselves by dressing modestly to avoid the inappropriate behaviour of men instead of educating men to understand that clothing does not indicate consent.

“What were you wearing?”
It’s a question society asks survivors of sexual violence all too often. A question loaded with accusation and a direct form of victim-blaming. It’s an insinuation that, maybe, the survivor could have averted their assault if they had worn something more modest.
“I am not asking for it”
It’s a thought that unfortunately most woman have experienced. I believe I speak for all when I say we have had enough of men assuming that we want their attention based on what we are wearing. How many times have we walked down a street, wearing a short item of clothing and gotten cat called, uncomfortably stared at, followed or even physically touched? It’s in moments like these that I wish I had the words “not asking for it” written on my forehead, just to clear up any doubts or assumptions.
As a response to these events, I have created a garment as a form of protest. The piece I have created consists of a two-piece skirt and bandeau top that is made out of com- pletely see through PVC fabric, making it almost invisible.
My invisible garment represents a window to our body, where you can see straight through to our thoughts, and the fear of inciting uncalled for behaviour based on what we wear. Because no matter how ‘revealing’ a man thinks an outfit is, we are still not asking for it.
Through my garment my aim is to state that clothing, or in this case the lack of it, is no call for any form of sexual attention nor is it an indicative of consent. It is up to no man to assume what our desires and intentions are through the way we dress, or the amount of skin we are showing. My garment together with the phrase “still not asking for it” painted on the chest creates a juxtaposition between the danger of having our bodies completely exposed, together with the statement of defence that clearly indicates that we are not asking for your inappropriate behavioural response.
