The European Investment Bank decided to postpone their ceasing in fossil fuel investment by another year, declaring they would stop in the year 2021, on 14-11-19.
Since then the Extinction Rebellion activists have continued their actions internationally shedding light on the facts of the situation:
14th November 2019: it is decided the European Union is to stop funding oil, gas and coal projects at the end of 2021, cutting €2bn (£1.7bn) of yearly investments; one year later than originally planned…
The future of the economy cannot be reliant on fossil fuels if it is to remain stable.
If the whole world reaches zero carbon emissions by 2050, we only have a 75% chance of staying below (an increase of) 2C.
A Shell spokesman said: ‘The heightened awareness of climate change that we have seen over recent months is a good thing. As a company, we agree that urgent action is needed.'
The effects of climate and ecological disruption that we are experiencing now are nothing compared to what could come.
