These are a slightly more advanced variation of a Rear Foot Elevated Split-Squat. By placing a wedge or a plate under the heel of the front foot you allow for a greater range of movement at that front leg, making the exercise more quad dominant.

Doing this exercise will not only strengthen the front leg, but you also have to stabilise with the back leg. This makes this exercise fantastic for anyone who runs or plays sport that involves running or jumping as it will greatly aid in the stability of the ankles, knees and hips.

Try to push your front knee forward as far as possible and let the back knee drop down so that you achieve the greatest range of movement possible.
