Body and Belonging, is a processed-based artistic research on the human body, as a subject of identity and place of belonging. It addresses the body as a point of intersection between themes around identity, nature, and contemporary society. Looking at gestures, postural alignment, and movement patterns, the performance explores how multiple facets of identity represent our basic human desire to belong. Approaching the body as a meeting point where past, present and future converge, the work originates from a personal need to understand one’s relationship between feelings of displacement and Ancestral history, while looking at the current climate crisis, as a mirror response to the violence inflicted on the feminine body. Using space, movement, and voice, a ritual is performed, telling a story to reclaim the body, as one’s rightful place. - Anouk Froidevaux
