THOUGHT:Your greatest success is on the other side of your failure.

BIBLE: When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said to him, “you know that I love you.” “Feed my lambs,” he told him. John 21:15

TRANSCRIPT: Hey everybody! I’m standing here on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, right next to the Church of the Primacy.

And this church is here to remember and to celebrate the moment when Jesus reinstated Peter. Remember that story? Jesus had been raised from the dead, and the disciples had gone back to Galilee and they were all fishing. And a man on the shore said, “How many have you caught?” And they said, “We haven’t caught any.” He said, “Throw the net on the other side.” And they threw it over and drew in a big catch, and Peter instantly knew that was the Lord. He jumped in the water and he swam up to the shore dripping wet and Jesus had a fire going. He was making breakfast; cooking fish over an open fire.

And he said, “Peter, sit down. I want to talk to you.” And he asked Peter these big questions. He said, “Peter, do you love me?” Peter said, “Lord, you know I love you.” Then he said, “I want you to feed my sheep.”

Jesus asked that three times. One time for every denial that Peter gave against Jesus. He reinstated Peter. Peter’s greatest failure was his denial of Jesus. But Peter’s greatest moment happened much time later. After Jesus reinstated him, when he was preaching a Pentecost, 3,000 were saved, the church was launched, the movement had begun. You see, Peter was still useful to Jesus. He just needed to be forgiven and reinstated.

Now listen. The same thing is true with you. You may be watching this video and you’re going, “You know what, I’ve just messed up too much. I’ve just done too many bad things. There’s no way that God can use me. I’m damaged goods.” But that’s not true. You see, Peter’s greatest success was on the other side of his greatest failure. And the same is true for you. That your greatest success is on the other side of your failure. If you will turn to Jesus, if you’ll seek his forgiveness, and if you’ll yield yourself again to him.
