LINHO REDESCOBERTO is a documentary in search of the future of flax in the Azores. Director Alexander K. Doyle evokes the current anthropological context around the cultivation and working of flax in Portugal. He gives voice in this film to the artisans, artists and scientists dedicating themselves to revealing, for a new generation, the authentic beauty of a noble and traditional plant. They aim to preserve the local traditions, while they create intermediate technical means, such that their work becomes again economic in the 21st century. They want to excite us with their vision of a future in which the beauty and artistry of the clothes we wear - here of linen - reflect the growing, world-wide movement to re-identify with natural materials and the human-scale techniques of artisans.
