A PERSONAL NOTE:
I am a melting pot. I am born and raised in Napoli, Italy where I was a ballet soloist, a Buoth dancer. Murray Louis was my mentor and I consider the Louis and Nikolais Foundation and members of the Legacy Group as an extended family. Murray Louis and Alwin Nikolais influenced and shaped me as a young dancer/choreographer and as a teacher. When their school closed I was lucky to be "adopted" by Ellen Stewart, La Mama E.T.C. There I was exposed to experimental and classical theater and I created movement for actors and regular people.
As a choreographer an director I seek to explore connectivity: the interaction and ties people have with each other, other living creatures, objects, and their environment. I explore how the physicality of movement is challenged, modified, and transformed through response and engagement with outer phenomena. I am from Napoli, one of the most creative, and sometimes, challenging cities in the world. Through dance, I learned that I could transcend difficulties through translating it into modern dance. I hope to lead everyone to a different perception, a different place, where limitations are beautiful and a key for people to get together and find solutions to social issues as well as personal ones.
