Nasc, Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre are excited to launch the ‘I Dream’ video featuring young people from migrant and asylum-seeking backgrounds who have been locked out of accessing higher or third level education because their immigration status precludes them from accessing SUSI grants. This video was scripted based on the real-life hopes, aspirations and barriers faced by young people who are unable to follow their dreams.

The ability to progress from secondary school to higher or third level education is often taken for granted but for hundreds of young people opening their Leaving Certificate results this year, they will not be able to go on to colleges or universities. These young people face enormous fees and regardless of the length of time they have spent in Ireland, they will not qualify for either a fee waiver or for financial support through the SUSI grant system.
