Gerry Nelson, co-founder of StoneL, discusses the many ways West Central Initiative helps businesses in this region of Minnesota thrive.

Gerry: "Let me talk a little bit about the things that West Central Initiative Fund has been involved with. One is the LFDC, Labor Force Development Council, that I served on for many years, which it's just kind of an advisory council of how to develop our labor force here. It was always, how do we get more people here?

And so one of the offshoots of that in recent years has been the "Live Wide Open" theme that we came up with. But the reason that I think it's important is because that's one of the reasons I came back here, I wanted to live in this area. We could probably find 10 people out at StoneL that went through that same thing that wanted to come back to west central Minnesota. "Live Wide Open" - It's one of the very good ways of attracting employees to come back to our area, and it's very difficult to get, especially technical people that we desperately need, especially in the engineering.

We have had outstanding employees that have come from this area, or who have moved back to this area to work for us. Just want to say a great big thank you to West Central Initiative Fund for supporting, you know, not only us as a company, would've been a much tougher time if they hadn't been there, but for all of the companies that they work with in the area."
