Dada means nothing. My film explores the notion that individual endeavour, passion and ambition is merely novelty and in turn obsolete. No one gets out alive.

My smartphone film takes place in an ominous void where there is nothing except for a long line of people (figurines) on a conveyor belt. Aside from the ambient hum of machinery, echoing through the void is the sound of un-distinguishable chatter, people whispering, gossiping, cheering, and booing the person at the front of the line. At the sound of a booing crowd, a penetrating horn echoes through the void and the conveyer belt moves forward, pushing the person at the front of the line into a dark water below. My smartphone film uses DADA inspiration to satirise those in power and those who will be in power and highlights the novelty of expecting change. I want the concept that nothing means anything to resonate with my audience by providing a visual experience in which a continuous cycle of hopelessness ensues. The essential premise of the concept of DADA as an artistic movement is exposing the absurdity of individuality and uniqueness. In the eyes of DADA existence is meaningless and chemical, nothing but a self-functioning cycle. I wanted to expand on this concept and angle the concept towards the realm of government and class division. To me the people on the conveyor belt are generations of political leaders, billionaires, CEOs, and people in power promising change, promising that they will be the difference but, in the end, they aren’t, no one is. They all end up in the same watery grave.
