Final Pixilation

We produced the final version of the pixilation video recently, which we had to present to our class recently, along side the work of our peers. While we managed to make the video sync up with the music, I feel as though the video’s frame rate is somewhat inconsistent. We never really decided to set a specific frame rate for the animation, instead jumping straight into it. However, for our video in particular, I feel as though the inconsistent frame rate is fitting with the events and themes depicted in the video, with the use of drugs affecting the subject’s perception of time, not to mention the jittery, unsmooth movement gives the audience an unsettling feeling, which is part of why old, low-f.p.s. stop motion was an effective visual effect in classic horror movies. We originally planned to include a scene in which the pills begin to climb up the subject’s arms to their neck, but found that the idea, in practice, didn’t work, with the pills constantly falling off. I feel that the criticisms of our peers will help me improve my work in future, assuming I continue to experiment with Pixilation.
