Short made for UBCs GRSJ 224F in the Winter 2019 semester.

The original art piece is made by Bobby Malone. Truly grateful for you trusting me with your art, thank you Bobby!

In this video, I attempt to make use of visual, and textual/auditory metaphors to convey different colonial and capitalistic ideas of the self, nature and life.
Through intense colors, patterns, and movement I try to demonstrate the hecticness and constant struggle of life in the modern western world, especially within metropolitan areas. These signs also point to the beauty, spontaneity, and uniqueness of individual peoples and artists around the world.
In an attempt for inclusivity, the use of speech and text point towards brief ideas of what colonialism and western society impose on people, without us even questioning them.
By using auditory (speech v. silence), visual (color v. black-and-white) and action (movement v. stillness) contrasts in the spectrum of time, the video conveys duality, hecticness-peacefulness, illusion-reality.
