For this entrepreneurial project, we decided to create a startup product that utilizes Lean Startup methodology as our baseline. Our vision was to create a product that addressed the need for security at the palm of your hands, or in our case, attached to your wrist. That product is an eco-sustainable smartwatch called CASSIOPEIA. CASSIOPEIA’s smartwatch comes equipped with several key security features, such as solar-paneled rims, a built-in breathalyzer, and a motion pressure safety tracker.

We spent about 10 weeks building the product from ideation to pitch presentation. We started by conducting in-depth research within the wearable technology market and the opportunity it has to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic. We then modeled up a variety of Business Model Canvases, reached out to future consumers to garner substantial feedback, and created minimal viable products to fully flesh-out our assumptions and hypotheses. Based on these factors, we developed a product that we knew people wanted and were looking for in a smartwatch.

As a team, we not only learned the importance of the Lean Startup method but also learned the necessary steps needed to take to become a successful entrepreneur. Working on this project, especially with the COVID-19 circumstances taken into account, we had to brainstorm ways in which we can conduct interviews, perform our experiments, and garner consumer feedback in a safe and effective manner.

Going forward into our creative careers we hope to utilize these practices into
action and launch our own real-life startup campaigns in the future.
