The trick is a wonderful tool I learned from one of my mentors Elizabeth Larkam. This strategic hand position can be a great tool to create a movement experience of ribcage movement during breathing. Especially helpful when you are trying to teach athletes to use their posteriolateral bucket handle strategy.
I find using tools like this or props to facilitate the athletes movement experience FEELING the posteriolateral breath is so much more powerful than telling them to breath there or poking them!
Always when I use this the look at me afterwards and are like “how do my fingers change it so much?” That’s the magic trick!!
