Exploration of the physical balance of the body in motion, while maintaining the stability, through the senses and to create immersive feeling for the audience.
I intend to create a film on the physical balance of the body. Balance is dependent on a multitude of different factors in the body that simultaneously work together, our eyes, ears and the body's sense of placement in space; The information that these senses gather is then used by the vestibular system in the ear to keep our head stable while in motion. A Chicken’s head is similar to a gimbal. They keep their heads stable regardless of their bodies position. Humans do the same thing although it is more subtle and becomes an unconscious behaviour.
The film will have an immersive feel and make the audience further feel like they are in the film.
I will be tracking peoples heads by applying the same principle. I believe it gives a more personal feel to the shots. The head tracking is a good way to show the talents perception of balance within space. The talent will be a whole range of people doing things; Walking to work, Running, Playing basketball, Dancing, Creating music and thumping head to music, Swimming, Building, Walking, Meditating, Yoga, Photography, Painting and Cooking.
The phone camera will be spinning around in a fast motion. I want the audience to feel a little queasy and disorientated when the camera spins around mimicking dizziness.
Mounting the phone to arms, legs, hands, feet, etc can show how we distribute our weight when balancing our bodies this will add to the immersive feel.
The edit will cut between normal, point of view and dizzy. I want the audience to feel aware of movement. As the film progresses, pacing of the shots will gradually build up and become closer together. For the dizziness, I want the spinning to speed up into a crescendo where by the audience feels like they have no control.
