ARTGEOLOGISTS, a performative light artwork

In the work, six artgeologists dressed in overalls that glow in the dark investigate the past and the future of mankind. Artgeologists study cultural and social change.They investigate the events that have influenced the formation of the place and the traces left by human activity in the environment.
Artgeologists signify and confine the findings and space.They also mark their findings with glowing paint. By using a slow motion movements they try to slow down time. Atrgeologists’ white workwear has been treated with a glow in the dark paint.The paint charges in the light (sun or artificial light) and releases a phosphorus glow in darkness.

Artist Collective Kunst consists of five finnish artists: Christina Holmlund, Pia Paldanius, Sirpa Päivinen, Anu Suhonen and Julia Weckman.
Artist ollective Kunst is a cooperative unit that organizes cross-disciplinary and performative exhibitions and interventions. Kunst works as a conversational and executing organ in which the authorship of an individual artist is not emphasized but the authorship is shared. Artist collective Kunst is a multidisciplinary Action Group of Art! The collective was awarded the National Art Award of Finland 2018.
