This is footage of a movement improvisation, reflection, and therapeutic session. I was processing a loss at the time, and having difficulty staying focused while teaching and dancing abroad at the Beijing Dance Festival. I felt raw and vulnerable.
Re-finding this footage helped me alleviate some of the pain I was holding on to, even to this day six years later. It demonstrated to me how dance/improvisation can serve us to process complex moments in our lives and heal any wounds that result from these experiences.
