Imagine a City of Eugene where a bikeway for all ages and abilities connects the Ridgeline Trail and Spencer Butte in the south to the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path and Willamette River in the north.

The fist portion of this "Ridgeline to River" connection is already complete, with the Amazon Path from 34th Avenue up to 19th.

Now the southern portion has just been built with the Amazon Active Transportation Corridor. This new stretch of bike-friendly travel includes:

• New bicycle and pedestrian signals

• A new diagonal crossing at the intersection of Hilyard Street, East Amazon Drive, and 33rd Avenue

• A new two-way protected bike lane on East Amazon Drive

Connecting with the Amazon Path, this safe and comfortable protected bikeway connects four schools and four parks as well as residential and commercial areas and it encourages people of all ages and abilities to ride their bikes for more trips.

And over the next year more improvements to the Amazon Active Transportation Corridor will be made including upgrading the soft-surface running path and installation of four new walking and biking bridges to connect East and West Amazon Drives over Amazon Creek.

Infrastructure improvements like this are helping Eugene reach its Climate Recovery Ordinance goals, it’s Vision Zero Action Plan goals, and the Transportation System Plan goal of tripling walking, biking, and transit trips in Eugene.

The final phase of the Ridgeline to River Connection is being analyzed as part of the Central Eugene In Motion study, which is examining the best way to connect the Amazon Path with the Riverbank Path.
