The 13 Posture choreography for the Yang style is a relatively new sequence which is designed for beginners and avoids the repetition and more demanding physical postures that characterize the more traditional long and medium frame sequences. Having said that it is used to teach introductory courses, it is also surprisingly demanding in its own right and is useful for more advanced practitioners in that it doesn't take much floor space or time [once you know how to do it properly] and can be useful if one needs to remind the body that sitting at a desk for long periods of time isn't the best way to stay healthy!

One of the challenges of such solo exercises in the Yang style of taijiquan is moving slowly and evenly and having the legs and waist direct the movement of the legs and arms. At roughly four minutes this performance is about mid-way in the normal range of three to five minutes to perform one go-through of the set.
