Today I took a mosaïque making class. I did this for creativity. I made a lighthouse. It was a very fun experience. The video is a time lapses of the lighthouse slowly taking form. For the beginning I had to draw the design on a slate. The pencil wasn’t sharp enough so it was difficult getting straight edges to make an exact shape. Then I was disappointed because I wanted to start with blue tiles to make the sea but instead the lady game me some stones to stick down. I didn’t speak up which is something I should have done because it would have made me much happier with my end product. I had a bit of difficulty cutting the tiles as well and often hurt my fingers because of the hard and sharp movement. Overall I was quite happy with the work produced and I think it looks very good. However I asked the lady if I could cover the background in a dark blue to make a lighthouse in the night but she said no and It made me sad because that’s the Initial design I was going for. I should have asked about this at the beginning of class. I learnt patience through this experience because it was a long process to get the exact tile shapes and sticking them together. I also learnt that I naturally click with art and that I did a great job. It was very fun and I am very happy.
